About Pride Wide
Pride Wide is a nonprofit publisher, broadcaster and growth agency, advancing LGBTQIA+ rights and lives.

The Volunteer Engagement Manager is a hands-on, execution-focused role within the Skills and Capabilities team. Ideally based in the US, but could be based in the UK, you will be the architect of our volunteer experience, ensuring that every member of our global movement feels connected and informed.

Your primary goal is to create and manage a consistent monthly cadence of volunteer touchpoints to ensure our volunteers feel informed, engaged and excited about the Pride Wide mission.  You will be a member of our Skills & Capabilities team, coordinate with the Executive team to align volunteer activities with the broader organisational calendar, providing a clear, reliable schedule for our entire volunteer community.

Key responsibilitiesRole of the volunteer engagement manager
Programmed TouchpointsDesign and execute a monthly rotation of virtual events that alternate between Informative (mission updates), Onboarding (welcoming new talent), and Social (community building).
Global Calendar Creation & ManagementBuild and maintain a central, shared calendar accessible to all volunteers. This master view includes official volunteer events, corporate meet-and-greets, and in-person events (though you will only be responsible for monthly volunteer events).
Executive CoordinationLiaise directly with the CEO and COO to ensure the volunteer calendar integrates seamlessly with executive priorities and other Pride Wide events.
Operational ExcellenceManage the end-to-end logistics for volunteer virtual events, from scheduling and invitations to post-event follow-up and record-keeping.
Event Team LiaisonCoordinate directly with the Pride Wide Events Team, the Development Council Chair, and the Advisory Board Chair to ensure volunteer touchpoints do not clash with corporate partnerships, board meetings, or logistical activations.

The Skills & Capabilities Team

The Skills & Capabilities team is a dedicated working group of high-impact volunteers focused on operationalising Pride Wide. Its purpose is to support the CEO and COO with the fundamental operational capabilities that enable the organisation to scale its programming, expand its broadcast platforms globally, and secure a sustainable future for LGBTQIA+ advocacy. 

Commitment

  • Minimum time commitment: Approximately 5-10 hours per month.
  • Meetings:
    • Attendance at monthly Skills & Capabilities team meetings with the Executive team.
    • Attendance at ad-hoc meetings and workshops to advance our workstreams.
    • All meetings are held virtually or hybrid, to facilitate attendance wherever you are in the world.
  • Term: A minimum commitment of two years.

  • The Volunteer Engagement Manager is supported by other Skills & Capabilities team members, currently comprising 4 people.
  • There is an option to co-own this role with another volunteer.

Person specification

Essential and desirable requirementsIdeal skills & experience
Commitment to LGBTQIA+ equalityA demonstrable commitment to LGBTQIA+ equality and Pride Wide’s mission is an essential requirement.
High-Level AdministrationExceptional organisational skills; experience in roles requiring scheduling and senior-level support (e.g., Volunteer Lead or Chief of Staff mindset).
Diplomatic CoordinationProven ability to coordinate across different leadership tiers to prevent scheduling conflicts.
Technical ProficiencyExpert-level comfort with shared digital tools, calendar management (Google Workspace), and virtual meeting platforms.
AmbassadorshipProven experience representing a charity, business or movement to internal and external stakeholders.
